You ever have one of those days, where you want to pull your hair out? Or you look at your kids and think, yup you are your father's child, there's no way that attitude came from me. I feel like sometimes my kids walk around in a complete fog in public, oblivious to anyone, but themselves, actually what am I talking about, they do this in the house too. I feel like I get home from work sometimes and it's like a tornado went through the house, I literally can see the path of destruction and where the F-5 hit and it's path. "Yup, ladies and gentlemen it went South from the kitchen then took a steep right turn onto Dining Room Lane, made its way through Living Room road, and headed North up to Stairway Valley." When I lose my marbles, which is quite often, I ask my kids, "How do you spell Mom" and they all chirp back, "M-O-M", "Excellent" I say to them, and then I ask them to spell "MAID"...they think long and hard..."M-A-I-D". "Look at that," I tell them, "it's not spelled the same!" I always threaten to throw everything out, but somehow we manage to just pile more and more in this 2500 sq ft house. Soon, we will have our very own TV show called, "Hoarders, who Live Among Us." I'll have to give up blogging because I'll be so famous for the mom who lost her marbles on TV when the crew tries to attempt to empty all the crap, and my kids are the ones putting up the fight. I'm waiting for the phone call NBC.
It was just a couple of days ago I had just gotten off nights, as did my husband, I had taken the minions out to let him sleep, because as moms we are like energizer bunnies we just keep going and going and going, and let's face it, we do much better on one hour of sleep than any man would lol. My daughter had just informed me that morning, that we needed to get chicken supplies. "Excuse me, what? Why?" She reminded me that apparently in one of my tired stupor mornings, I agreed to 40 baby chickens for a weekend. Yes, you heard me, 40. Holy Moly...well that's not really what I said in my head. If my husband ever reads my blog, he'll figure it out that we have 40 coming in a couple of weeks! What was I thinking? What did I agree to? Like we don't have enough crazy going on in this house? Has anyone told the other adult in the household? Oh boy...this is not going to go over well. I did what any other woman would do when they are stressed...we went shopping.
So I piled all the kids into the Suburban and headed to where else: Ulta. I needed shampoo, and the bigs, our older kids, always like to go there. The littles love to go there because all the make-up is at their level and they think this is a complete free-for-all and paint-by-number scene. I'm sure the Ulta staff love it when we come into their store and see my crew. The littles come in looking like sweet little lovebugs and leave looking like BoBo the Clown. It's pretty consistent, we have someone come to us asking us all the time, "Can we help you?" "Nope, not to worry, they are just here for the coloring section." None of the employees get my sense of humor. I guess by the fourth, it gets a little dry and you stop worrying about what others think.
Well this morning, this tired momma wasn't having it. The littles were touching everything! Finally, I screamed to them "Enough! The Ulta store has hired a policeman to stand guard specifically for you guys, and if you continue to touch things they are going to take you away to jail, keep your hands to yourself!" Well, that did the trick, except I had every eye in the store looking at me, thinking I had lost my marbles. I was pretty close.
I, like many others, of course, had tremendous guilt that I almost incarcerated my kids. I knew I had to come up with an activity to entertain these kids, and then it hit me…summer is coming up, why not invest in the Ninja Ice Cream Maker and we could enjoy an activity together as a family. I thought it would be fun to add content to my witty comedic mommy blog discussing the fun of making homemade ice cream, how it brings families together, as well as sharing our experience and showcasing it as a delightful family activity!
This is the one we used and it was great! Disclaimer: it’s an investment and we wanted to see if it would be worth it for our family, and it was a huge success! There is one that is slightly larger and a little bit more expensive and I'll post that below, but the one above was more than sufficient for us. If you click on the pictures it will bring you directly to the link!
We learned that we needed multiple containers because the kids wanted to make a variety of ice cream flavors, and all we had in the house was the one Ninja Container that the machine came with. It is imperative, that you use the small containers when creating your ice cream flavors because this is what will fit in the Ninja Ice Cream Mixer Machine. Having more than one will allow the minions to create their flavors, add any topics they want to their ice cream, and ultimately turn into a fun ice cream flavor competition.
Ice Cream isn't the only sweet treat you can make with the Ninja, you can create milkshakes, sorbet, light ice cream, gelato, Italian ice, a slushy, and mom's and dad's listen up any type of frozen drink you can think of. Remember from post number one the key to a good marriage was a good Cosmo...well a yummy frozen drink in hand in the summer also works well!
This is a great opportunity for your family to bond over some fun ice cream-making competitions, and what a hit this would be at the birthday parties for the kids. There are so many recipes out there, just look on Pinterest! You can name the flavor you are thinking of, and it will be created for you. I created some quick recipe cards for you guys, I always hated when I go on to Pinterest to look up the recipe and you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to the bottom of the website to get to the damn recipe and then when you get there, it reverts right back to the beginning. I'm sure you can fix that, but if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm just learning the computer/blogging management thing. (So thank you to those who have stuck around).
Here are my recipe cards that you can use if you purchase the Ninja Ice Cream Maker, and I'll save you the hassle of scrolling through the web pages! All-in-all, although a pricier purchase, I think ultimately it saves us money in the long run, it keeps my kids entertained, their bellies full, my glass full of a yummy drink, and their rap sheet with the police empty lol. So here's to some fun in the sun with your family! MUAH
